We’re all about doing the right thing. That’s why our community support focuses on providing health, hygiene and the comforts of home—three unique areas where our products can have more impact than ever.

Whether it’s supporting hygiene education, providing a simple necessity like water or delivering essentials for families displaced by disaster, our goal is to improve the health and well-being of every community we touch.

Supporting communities

P&G makes an impact in communities around the world through our people, our family of brands and our partners by delivering the comforts of home, health and hygiene and specifically here in the UK and Ireland through our charitable efforts and ongoing #CommunityMatters programme, which sees sites and employees supporting local projects and charities that align with P&G’s mission to be a force for good, and a force for growth.

The power of clean water

In a world where nearly a billion people struggle to get clean drinking water, our Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Programme provides clean water to those who need it most. Our purification packet (a technology invented here in the UK at our Newcastle Innovation Centre), broke new ground simply by providing a way to make dirty water drinkable.

Each P&G water purification packet treats 10 litres of water by effectively eliminating bacteria, viruses, parasites and solid materials. In just 30 minutes, a family of five can have clean drinking water for an entire day.

Since 2004, we've delivered more than 13 billion litres of clean water. With a goal of 15 billion by 2020, we’re well on our way.

Delivering relief in times of need

In the aftermath of disaster, our aim is to bring the comforts of home to those who need it most. This year, we responded to more than 20 disasters globally and helped millions of people.

Provided almost £750,000 in global disaster relief grants to organisations on-the-ground and around the world, such as CARE, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross and Save the Children, to name a few

Pampers + UNICEF “1 pack = 1 vaccine”

Maternal and newborn tetanus (MNT) affects families in some of the poorest areas of the world as a direct result of unhygienic birthing practices. There’s no real cure, and MNT claims the lives of 34,000 newborns every year.

Since the Pampers + UNICEF “1 pack = 1 vaccine” campaign began in 2006, more than half a million newborn babies have been saved, and we’ve eliminated the disease in 20 countries.

We partnered with NICU nurses to design the Pampers Preemie Swaddlers Size P-3 nappy (three sizes smaller than newborn nappies). It’s designed to fit the tiniest and most vulnerable premature babies, weighing as little as 0.5kg.

Tide Loads of Hope

In times of disaster, in the US, Tide brings mobile laundry units to families who are affected so they can have clean clothes. This year, the programme cleaned more than 4,000 loads of laundry during six deployments.

After an oil spill, safely removing oil from feathers, fur and marine wildlife requires a gentle, yet powerful touch. P&G's US Dawn dishwashing liquid has been the solution animal rescuers have trusted since the mid-1980s. In total, 100,000 donated bottles have helped to save 75,000 wild animals from oil contamination.

Our impact doesn't stop here

In October 2019 as part of our #ActForWater campaign, for every share of the ACTIVATE ‘Clean Water Crisis’ episode and our campaign hashtag #ActforWater, we will donate 1 litre of clean water to help communities in need via the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Programme. For every share of the ACTIVATE ‘Clean Water Crisis’ episode URL and #ActForWater hashtag between 03/10/2019 and 31/10/2019, Procter & Gamble UK will donate £0.01 to the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Fund up to a maximum donation of £5,000. A penny (£0.01) can provide one litre of clean water. All charitable contributions will go directly to the Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Fund, which is a charitable fund managed by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.
