Recognising International Day of People with Disabilities: One Year On with Darren Edwards

Today marks International Day of People with Disabilities - a moment when we honour, celebrate and reflect on the journeys, resilience and potential of people with disabilities.

A year ago, we shared the story of Darren Edwards, an adaptive adventurer whose unbreakable spirit and achievements have redefined what’s possible. That same day, we announced our sponsorship of his most ambitious mission yet: a sit-ski expedition to the South Pole.

A Year Later: The Journey Continues

Fast forward twelve months and we’re proud to say that Darren is now mere days away from embarking on this extraordinary challenge. In the lead-up, our Senior Sales Director & Wellbeing Sponsor Louise Erdozain joined Darren for a full-on training session and together they showed us what focus, resilience and partnership really look like.

We captured the day on video: it’s a powerful snapshot of what it takes to prepare mentally and physically for a mission so ambitious, and a testament to what inclusion and support can achieve together.

Over the past year, our partnership with Darren has continued to show us what’s possible. Watching Darren’s progress reminds us how important it is to keep building a culture where people feel seen, supported, and able to bring their full selves to work. And perhaps most importantly, Darren’s journey continues to challenge assumptions about resilience. Every training session, every adjustment, every long day of preparation shows that potential isn’t defined by disability, it’s defined by determination, teamwork, and the environment we build around people.
