From Our Home to Yours: How P&G products are made and delivered across the UK
What does it take to bring some of the UK's most trusted brands into millions of homes every day?
A pack of Pampers. A bottle of Fairy. A can of Gillette shave prep. They’re familiar products found in homes across the UK but there’s a much bigger story behind how they get there.
Our new ‘From Our Home to Yours’ film series goes behind the scenes at P&G sites in Reading, Manchester and London to meet the people bringing these products from an idea to homes across the country. That includes Ashley in Reading, whose connection to the site goes back to his childhood and dad-to-be Luke in Manchester, who now sees his work making Pampers through a new lens.

Their stories also show what working at P&G can mean: the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while growing professionally and personally. By investing in people and giving them opportunities to develop, P&G offers the chance to build a career, not just a job.

What is the journey of a P&G product?
At P&G every product goes through four key stages:
- Consumer-led innovation: Understanding how people use our products to continually develop and improve them.
- Precision manufacturing: Combining advanced technology with the expertise of our teams.
- Rigorous quality and safety: Closely monitoring products to ensure they meet our standards.
- A resilient supply chain: Keeping products moving from our sites to retailers across the country.
The journey begins with the consumer. At our Reading Innovation Centre, around 20,000 men take part in shave tests every year, while our teams study details such as pressure, angle and skin movement to help continuously improve Gillette products.

What happens during manufacturing and quality control?
The next step is bringing our products to life at scale. Our UK manufacturing sites have been part of their local communities for decades, with our London site holding a manufacturing heritage of more than 90 years.
At our Pampers facility in Manchester, nappies are produced in “no-touch” conditions, with more than 200 sensors and 10 cameras monitoring them as they move along the production line. Each can be traced from raw material through to the finished pack.
But behind the technology are the people who make it happen. For Luke, who works at our Manchester site, becoming a dad himself has brought a new perspective to the Pampers products he helps make every day.

How do products get from the factory to the shops?
Once a can, bottle, or pack comes off the production line, it's packed into cases and moved to our distribution centre.
From there, teams work behind the scenes to keep products moving efficiently from our sites to retailer warehouses and stores. It’s a significant operation: across the UK, around 24 P&G products are bought every second.
Travel From Reading to Manchester and London, meet the people behind some of the UK's most trusted brands and discover how heritage, innovation, quality and supply chain expertise come together to keep products moving from our factories to retailers and families across the country.
Because behind every bottle, pack and can is a story of people, pride and purpose.
