Every P&G facility, plant and office building stands for sustainable innovation.
Our facilities are more than just a place to work. They're where our employees spend a good part of their lives. They also are part of the community—local and global.
With that in mind, we make every facility a safe and comfortable place to be, with a positive impact on the surrounding area.
That includes having LEED® certification for all new manufacturing plants, distribution centres, and office buildings. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized green building certification system. It provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations, and maintenance solutions. As the industry standard for sustainable design, LEED evaluates a facility’s potential impact in several areas, including CO2 emissions, energy, waste, water, and environmental quality.
In China, P&G's Taicang Hair Care Facility and Distribution Center runs on 100% renewable electricity from wind. This helps eliminate over 5,000 metric tons of CO2 per year.
Built in 2012 in the Jiangsu Province, this also was our first plant in the world to achieve both LEED Gold certifications for administration buildings and Silver for manufacturing buildings.
All manufacturing waste at the site is recycled, re-used, or re-purposed with no waste being sent to landfill.
